Soccer Goal for Evergreen East – Updated

In 2023 Vertical Boost initiated a project to provide a brand new regulation-size (8′ x 24′) soccer goal to benefit the children and families living at Evergreen East in Fairport, NY. After many months of hard work and help from wonderful partners, the goal was put in place on 5/19/2025!

We are so grateful for all of our wonderful partners who helped make this project such a success. Thank you, Evergreen East, WinnCompanies, Fairport Rotary, Learning Links, and the Town of Perinton for your partnership and support!

What follows is a series of updates in reverse chronological order.

***08/27/2025 *** We stopped by to check in on a summer camp at Evergreen East. It was so great to see the kids enjoying the new goal!

*** 06/04/2025 Update *** – Mission Accomplished! We held an official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the soccer goal during Evergreen East’s Community Event! Kids participated in fun contests to hit the target and win prizes. Every child who attended received a brand new soccer ball, and we also raffled off new soccer cleats and jerseys. It was a fantastic time.

A lot of work went on behind the scenes to make this project successful. We want to thank everyone from Evergreen East, the Fairport Rotary, and the Town of Perinton for helping make this all possible! We hope this goal brings joy to the kids and families of Evergreen East and shows them that their community cares about them!

*** 05/19/2025 Update *** – The guys from the Town of Perinton dropped off the goal and we (Trevor and Calvin) put it together. It is a high quality goal and it was fun assembling it. We are looking forward to having the kids use it!

*** 03/26/2025 Update *** – We attended the Perinton Town Board Meeting on Wednesday, March 26th. The Town of Perinton officially accepted funds from Vertical Boost and the Fairport Rotary for the brand-new regulation-size soccer goal at Evergreen East. We are planning a fun kickoff event to debut the goal.

*** 2/25/2025 Update *** – Funds have been sent from the Rotary to the Town of Perinton and they have purchased the soccer goal! We are planning for an installation date this spring. We are also planning a small ceremony to introduce the goal to Evergreen East and recognize the efforts of all who helped make this possible.

*** 12/16/2024 Update *** – We have secured our fundraising goal of $2,700 through the generosity of the Fairport Rotary! We are now planning for the purchase of the goal and then we’ll begin plans for an unveiling this Spring!

*** 10/31/2024 Update *** – We received the official approval from Evergreen East and WinnCompanies to proceed with this project! We want to thank them and the great people at the Town of Perinton for their help so far. We are now working on getting quotes and preparing for the fundraising activities. Please stay tuned for more!

*** All donations must be NEW ***

As Rochester’s weather starts to turn cold we are once again partnering with Primetime585 on a Winter Wear ! We are accepting donations of ***NEW*** Winter Wear (hats, gloves, coats, snow pants, etc.) and Toys.

Donations will benefit the following:

Golisano Children’s Hospital – Sickle Cell Unit
PrimeTime585 has adopted the Sickle Cell Unit at Golisano Children’s Hospital. Sickle Cell Disease is an inherited blood disorder that is present at birth. It can be diagnosed in children as young as 6 months old. It is a painful disease that can lead to infection, cause strokes, and can require many blood transfusions. While this unit is serving over 150 children, it wasn’t as well known as others, and therefore wasn’t receiving many donations. Primetime585 is working to change that.

Other Beneficiaries
Primetime585 has also adopted several city and rural schools, as well as homeless centers which house kids, to provide winter wears and toys.

4th Annual Sneaker Drive

This year, we focused our efforts on providing brand-new sneakers for the kids in the Evergreen East Community in Fairport.

In August, we distributed the sneakers at a “Community Back-to-School Supplies Event” at Evergreen East. Through the kindness of our donors and partners, many children will now be starting school with a brand-new pair of shoes or cleats for their fall sports!

3rd Annual Summer Sneaker Drive

Our Summer Sneaker Drive returns for its 3rd year! Through the kindness of so many generous donors, we have distributed over 400 pairs of sneakers in the community. Let’s work together to keep it rollin’!

We are continuing to champion the idea that “Everyone deserves a chance to play!” again this year. Studies consistently show that participating in sports can lead to immediate and long-term benefits for youth, their families, and communities. Aside from the physical benefits, sports can help teach teamwork and problem-solving skills. Sports have also been proven to keep youth from falling into cycles of anti-social behavior, violence, crime, and drug use.

We are kicking off our 3rd Annual Summer Sneaker Drive with donation boxes set up at various basketball camps and the Perinton Recreation Center. We plan to collect the donations, clean them up, and then distribute them to programs in the local community.

We ask that you kindly consider donating to help this worthy cause.

Special thanks to all of our gracious partners who help support our projects!

2nd Annual Fairport Book Drive

We are excited to announce that we are partnering with the Rochester Education Foundation for a book drive to support their Give Back, Give Books program. The program will run from April 9th – April 19th.

We will be accepting new and used books (in “like-new” condition). Here is the Rochester Education Foundation’s wishlist:

If you prefer to buy local, please consider visiting Hipocampo Children’s Books located in the South Wedge.

Fairport Rotary Presentation

It was such an honor to speak at the Fairport Rotary meeting on Monday, December 18th 2023. They are a world-class organization that does so much to help others.

We had a great dinner and met a lot of nice people. We then gave a slide show presentation to the group. We enjoyed sharing our story and interacting with the members during the Question and Answer session.

We’d like to thank to Becky Wilson and President Tom Wolanski for this wonderful opportunity. Their members also brought in shoe donations. We are so appreciative and will make sure the donations go to areas of our community where they can help the most.
